The MIV02-1-B5 inverter unit is manufactured by Okuma for the MIV Servo Drives series. It converts energy from the shared DC link into motor-specific voltages while collecting encoder information, allowing the CNC to regulate torque and speed for the connected mechanical axis. The module serves as the power and feedback interface between the system bus and BL/PREX servo motors in automated machining centers. This arrangement allows the controller to coordinate motor current with position feedback during acceleration, steady motion, and deceleration.
The drive governs one axis, so its parameters and fault logs relate to one motion channel. Low-level electronics receive a stabilized supply of 24 VDC, which isolates the control logic from the main power section. The inverter draws energy from a shared 300 VDC bus, which can also return regenerated power to the supply converter. Nominal output on the L side is 2.0 kW, making the unit suitable for compatible medium-frame BL/PREX motors. Commands and feedback travel through the Servo / Encoder / Converter link, providing time-aligned position and current data to the CNC. A 5-bit address switch assigns the module a unique controller ID when multiple drive units share the enclosure.
