The MIV08-1-B1 inverter unit is manufactured by Okuma and belongs to the MIV Servo Drives series. Designed for machine-tool automation, it serves as the power stage that drives a single mechanical axis by modulating current for BL or PREX synchronous motors. The module links to the controller through dedicated servo, encoder, and converter buses so commanded motion and real-time feedback share the same communication backbone. Within an Okuma cabinet, it pairs with a common converter to deliver regulated three-phase output that helps maintain positioning accuracy during cutting or material-handling cycles.
The drive is sized for motors up to 7.5 kW, which sets the output range for the connected axis. All real-time data move across the multifunction Servo / Encoder / Converter link, which reduces external wiring and keeps feedback synchronized with the current loops. Internal logic and I/O are supplied from a separate 24 VDC control rail so field sensors stay energized even when the main bus is off. Power to the inverter bridge is drawn from a shared 300 VDC line, enabling regenerative energy from braking axes to be reused elsewhere in the system. The ICB1 control board, ROM type 1 memory, and a 7-segment LED panel provide parameter storage and local status indication without opening the cabinet.
A 10 hp horsepower rating supports compatibility with common spindle and feed motor listings, while the housing measures 100 mm wide, 325 mm deep, and 380 mm high.
