The MIV02A-1-B5 is an Okuma inverter unit from the MIV Servo Drives series. As a drive module, it conditions DC link energy and sends current commands to one servo channel, allowing precise speed and position control in machine tool and general automation systems. By housing the power electronics and feedback interface in a single enclosure, it simplifies cabinet layout and keeps related control connections together in one module. This arrangement supports compact axis installations where organized internal wiring and consistent servo response are important.

This drive supports a single-axis configuration, so one servo motor is connected to its output stage. Logic circuits, fans, and sensing hardware are supplied by 24 VDC control power, while the main switching devices draw from a 300 VDC bus shared with a common rectifier. The unit is the 2nd generation in this design, reflecting an updated release compared with the original version. On the left power rail, it can deliver up to 2.67 hp, which is mechanically equivalent to 2.0 kW, to a BL or PREX motor during continuous cutting or rapid traverse cycles. Encoder, converter, and servo links are routed through dedicated backplane connectors, allowing distributed control without external wiring harnesses.

Front diagnostics are shown on a 7-segment LED that reports ready, alarm, and run codes, and the removable MFP1 card stores operating parameters. The drive pairs with BL / PREX brushless motors, matching resolver or encoder feedback to the internal controller without additional option cards. Cabinet space is conserved by a frontal width of 60 mm, while the 380 mm height and 295 mm depth keep the housing narrow and tall for vertical cabinet layouts. The assembly weighs 5.0 kg, so it remains relatively easy to mount on light-gauge DIN rails. The narrow housing also leaves room between neighboring modules for airflow in dense control cabinets.
