Product Description:
The MIV0303-1-B3 is an inverter section intended for the modular MIV Servo Drives series produced by Okuma. Within a machine tool or automated cell, this unit converts DC-link energy into three-phase AC power for synchronous and induction motors, allowing speed and torque regulation without mechanical speed changers. When paired with Okuma BL and PREX motors, it forms the axis power stage that executes position and velocity commands issued by the machine controller.
During normal operation, the drive receives power from the DC bus and exchanges gating signals through the internal I/O stack. Its mounting pattern, software menus, and parameter ranges align with other modules installed in the rack. Motor compatibility is limited to the BL and PREX motor families, and the current tables and sensor feedback channels are scaled for their rotor characteristics. The power electronics are supervised by an ICB1 control board, which manages pulse-width modulation, fault detection, and regenerative braking sequences. The L-side inverter section provides a continuous output of up to 4 hp, making it suitable for small spindle or feed axes on medium-capacity machining centers.
The corresponding metric power rating is 3.0 kW, which supports power calculations in systems that use metric units. Separate thermal monitoring is provided for the L side and the M side. Each half bridge can initiate a separate thermal trip if its dissipation limit is exceeded, protecting the associated power electronics from excessive heat. The module is supplied as an inverter unit without an embedded power supply or communication hardware because those functions reside in neighboring units. This modular arrangement allows the drive sections, wiring harnesses, and cooling ducts to be organized according to the number of controlled axes in the cabinet.
