Product Description:
The MIV0505A-1-B5 inverter unit is produced by Okuma for the MIV Servo Drives series. Classified as an Okuma inverter unit, this second-generation model supplies regulated DC power to paired servo amplifiers so that BL or PREX motors on two machine axes can be driven with accurate speed and torque profiles. It interfaces with the control loop through encoder and converter links and fits into multi-axis machining centers where compact DC bus sharing reduces cabinet space and wiring.
The drive can deliver up to 4.8 kW × 4.8 kW of mechanical output, which corresponds to 6.4 hp × 6.4 hp in imperial units. These ratings apply to the L and M motor axes, and the built-in architecture supports 2 axes without external expansion. Control electronics are supplied from a dedicated 24 VDC auxiliary rail, while the main DC link is stabilized at 300 VDC. An ICB1H control board handles current sensing and pulse-width modulation, while peripheral links connect the servo outputs, encoder feedback, and upstream converter to maintain synchronized motion. The XT1 connection uses M6 screw terminals, while the XT2 connection uses M4 screw terminals, allowing secure wiring with ring lugs.
The unit has a depth of 295 mm, a height of 380 mm, and a width of 100 mm, allowing dense stacking inside a thermal management duct. The enclosure weighs 6.5 kg, providing a manageable installation weight while helping the housing resist vibration during machine operation. The housing aligns its cooling fins with cabinet airflow to support heat dissipation during sustained axis movement. Its mounting pattern keeps the XT1 and XT2 screw blocks accessible from the front, making power and control connections easier to reach within a populated drive cabinet. The shared DC bus distributes power between connected axes while reducing the number of separate supply connections required in the enclosure.
