Product Description:
The MIV03-1-B1 inverter unit is a servo drive module produced by Okuma and assigned to the MIV Servo Drives series. As an Okuma inverter unit, it converts DC bus energy into controlled AC output for brushless linear motors so that a machining axis can receive precise velocity and torque commands in automated machine tools and robotics. This model is intended to be mounted inside the electrical cabinet and interfaces directly with the manufacturer’s motion controller through dedicated connectors.
Its single motion channel enables 1 axis of control, and the L-side power stage is rated at 4 hp, equivalent to 3.0 kW, providing enough headroom for medium-frame BL motors used on feed or spindle axes. The housing measures 325 mm deep and 60 mm wide, so it occupies little panel surface while leaving room for airflow behind the unit. Even with these compact dimensions, the assembly weighs 5.7 kg, which is light enough for slide-in rack installation. Thermal mass and limited footprint together simplify cabinet layout because heavier components can be placed lower while this drive can sit nearer to I/O modules.
Vertical clearance is set by a height of 380 mm, and all power, feedback, and service connections are organized on the front edge. The 232 serial diagnostics port uses the 53460-0611 (Molex) plug, mains input is accepted through the 1-179276-2 (AMP) AC connector, and the motor encoder returns through the D02-M15SAG-13L9 (JAE) fitting; DC link wiring is terminated on the separate 1-178137-2 (AMP) bus receptacle. By grouping purpose-built connectors with keyed housings, the drive reduces miswiring risk and keeps installation straightforward. These interface choices match the BL motor family that the drive is designed to energize, letting the axis harness plug directly into the servo drive without custom adapters.
