By converting power from the common 300 V intermediate bus into a controlled three-phase output, the unit interfaces directly with the BL/PREX class servo motors that Okuma uses for coordinated positioning tasks. This arrangement allows the drive to regulate motor operation while receiving commands from the machine control system.
This drive controls one motor axis because it has a single-axis configuration. Continuous output is limited to 15 kW (20 hp), so the inverter can sustain high-demand duty cycles on mid-frame spindles without derating. The power stage is fed from a shared DC link at 300 VDC, while internal gate logic and sensor circuits receive their own 24 V supply through the control connector.
