Product Description:
The MIV05-1-B5 inverter unit is produced by Okuma within the MIV Servo Drives series. It functions as the power stage that links a shared DC bus to a single servo axis, generating the regulated three-phase output required by compatible BL or PREX motors. In automated machine tools, the unit’s role is to modulate motor torque and speed in response to CNC commands, enabling accurate positioning, smooth acceleration, and coordinated motion across the drive system.
It derives its control logic from a dedicated 24 VDC supply, isolating low-level electronics from power circuitry for startup and safe shutdown. The internal converter draws energy from the shared DC link at 300 VDC, which is then pulse-width modulated to drive the connected axis. Continuous output capability is 4.8 kW. Because the unit is sized for a single-axis load, its gating pattern and current sensors are optimized for one motor feedback loop on the connected servo axis. Central to signal processing is the ICB1 inverter control board, which houses gate drivers, fault detection, and parameter memory to coordinate speed, current, and position data received over the servo, encoder, and converter links.
The housing measures 60 mm in width, 380 mm in height, and 325 mm in depth, allowing it to fit alongside other MIV modules on a common mounting rail without exceeding cabinet clearances. A mass of 5.7 kg facilitates manual installation while keeping vibration forces low on dynamic axes. Power enters through an AMP type 1-179276-2 connector, giving keyed alignment and secure latching for the DC bus conductors. Separate terminal blocks accommodate low-voltage control leads so wiring can be dressed away from high-current paths. This separation helps keep control wiring isolated from the DC bus and motor connections inside automated machining centers.
