Product Description:
The MIV0104A-1-B5 is supplied by Okuma as part of the MIV Servo Drives series. The Okuma inverter unit conditions power from the machine tool cabinet and modulates that energy for connected servo motors. It links the CNC controller to the motor windings, allowing closed-loop speed and torque regulation during cutting, positioning, and material-handling operations. Its dual-axis design allows separate motors to receive controlled current from one enclosure while retaining independent motion control.
The unit supports a paired output rating of 1.8 kW × 4.0 kW (2.4 hp × 5.3 hp), accommodating motors with different power requirements. Internal logic, gate-drive, and sensor circuits receive power from a separate 24 VDC control line, which isolates the low-level electronics from the high-energy link. The power section draws from a 300 VDC bus, enabling rapid current increases during acceleration. A built-in tachometer interface scales shaft velocity at 1562 rpm/V, providing a linear feedback signal for drive tuning. The torque monitor produces 3 V at rated torque, allowing real-time load checks with a connected meter. The left-side inverter channel is limited to 1.0 kW (1.33 hp), making it suitable for a lighter feed or auxiliary motor, while the right-side channel handles the higher-powered axis.
The two inverter channels occupy 2 drive slots within a single enclosure, reducing the cabinet space required for multi-axis control. The aluminum chassis measures 380 × 60 × 295 mm and supports vertical mounting behind the control panel without blocking the intended airflow path. Its total mass is 5.5 kg, which reduces the load placed on the cabinet mounting surface. A voltage error multiplier of 1/42 scales internal bus sensing for drive diagnostics and voltage monitoring. Separate M6 and M4 terminal screws are positioned at the upper and lower connections, providing secure landing points for power and signal wiring without adapter lugs. The narrow chassis width leaves adjacent cabinet space available for power supplies, control modules, or supporting drive components.
