The SM Synchronous Servo Motors are permanent-field synchronous motors built in 6-pole, 8-pole, and 10-pole versions with sine-wave induced voltage for industrial servo applications.
They are designed to run from digital servo controllers rather than being connected directly to the mains, and the series is offered in multiple sizes and speed classes to match different motion requirements. Standard construction features include insulation class F, radial groove ball bearings with lifetime lubrication, and KTY84 winding temperature monitoring on most versions. The series can be configured with self-cooling or external cooling, optional holding brakes, and resolver or Hiperface feedback systems for speed and position control. Standard protection is IP54, with certain versions available up to IP65, and the motors are rated for continuous S1 duty under the operating conditions defined in the manual.
