Product Description:
KEB manufactures the C3.SM.000-440Q, a synchronous servo motor in the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. The unit receives controlled three-phase power from a matched inverter and produces rotary motion for automation axes. Tight regulation of torque and speed lets indexing tables, feed rollers, and pick-and-place modules reach programmed positions. The motor suits loads that need fast acceleration and consistent positioning inside compact machine frames.
The motor’s housing has a B5 IFT5-compatible flange, so it fastens directly to IEC gearheads or frame plates without alignment sleeves. Heat that develops in the stator is removed by self-cooling; the smooth exterior surface dissipates losses into the ambient air and requires no blower or liquid circuit. Power and feedback conductors enter through a top-mounted terminal box, allowing rigid conduit connections commonly used in cabinet designs. The rotor reaches a rated speed of 4000 rpm, providing sufficient peripheral velocity for moderate tooling while still allowing high positioning resolution. Electrical excitation is supplied at 330 V when the motor operates with a 400 V class inverter, and the winding is also compatible with a 560 V DC bus for shared-link drive arrays.
At standstill, the electromagnetic assembly can sustain 5.65 Nm of continuous torque, enabling vertical loads or indexing cams to remain clamped without overheating. The aluminum frame weighs only 4.9 kg, so the total moving mass stays low when the motor is mounted on linear carriages or articulated joints. An ingress protection rating of IP54 shields the internal laminations from dust deposits and water spray encountered in standard factory environments. Output power is transmitted through a shaft supplied with a feather key, providing positive torque engagement with pulleys or couplings. Because the motor is supplied without a brake, position retention during power loss must be provided by the drive controller or an external mechanical lock.
