The A4.SM.002-64DH is a synchronous servo motor produced by KEB as part of the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is intended for closed-loop positioning and velocity control in automated equipment. Its compact rotary design responds quickly and repeatably to motion commands issued by a compatible drive controller or PLC. The motor can serve positioning tables, packaging machinery, handling systems, and other equipment that requires controlled acceleration and precise movement.
Thermal management relies on self-cooling, so the motor dissipates heat through its frame without an auxiliary blower. The housing has an IP54 protection rating, limiting dust ingress and protecting internal components against splashing water from multiple directions. Under nominal excitation, the rotor can reach 6000 rpm, providing a wide operating range for applications that use direct coupling or mechanical transmissions. The stator windings are optimized for 330 V operation in 400 V AC systems. The motor also accepts a 560 V DC link potential when powered through an intermediate circuit. Position feedback is supplied by a Sin/Cos encoder ERN 1188, which sends high-resolution analog sine and cosine signals to the servo drive for interpolation. This feedback allows the controller to monitor the rotor angle and regulate speed throughout the operating range.
The mechanical interface uses a B5 IFT5-compatible flange pattern, allowing the motor to attach directly to suitable gearboxes, pulleys, or machine plates without custom adapters. The rotor has a shaft without a feather key, favoring shrink-fit or clamping couplings when minimal backlash is required. Proper coupling pressure provides secure torque transmission while maintaining shaft alignment. The unit is supplied without a brake, so standstill holding force must come from motor torque or an external locking device when the load must remain stationary. Omitting the brake also removes the need for brake-release wiring and reduces the inertial load during acceleration and deceleration.
