The 14.SM.000-3400 is a synchronous servo motor produced by KEB for the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It serves as the electromechanical interface between a motion controller and the driven machine axis, converting programmed current vectors into repeatable rotary motion that supports positioning, indexing, and continuous-duty automation tasks. When paired with a 400 V class inverter, the motor provides the closed-loop accuracy required for packaging lines, material-handling stages, and general industrial machinery.
Under rated conditions, the rotor turns at 3000 rpm, a synchronous speed that aligns with common drive controllers and simplifies gear-ratio selection. The motor operates at 330 V with a 400 V class or 560 V DC supply, allowing it to work with compatible industrial drive systems. An enclosure rating of IP54 protects the internal laminations and bearings against limited dust ingress and splashing water. Heat is removed through self-cooling, so the frame relies on its surface area and ambient airflow to dissipate thermal energy without an additional fan. Field wiring terminates inside a terminal box, providing direct access for phase conductors, protective grounding, and sensor leads while cable glands help maintain the enclosure seal.
Position feedback is provided by a 2-pole resolver SSBH-15-E-5 mounted on the non-drive end. It delivers analog sine-cosine signals that allow the drive to calculate the rotor angle and maintain accurate closed-loop control. The housing attaches to machinery through a B5 IFT5-compatible flange, which supports direct face mounting to a compatible machine interface. Output torque is transmitted through a shaft with a feather key, ensuring positive engagement with pulleys, gearboxes, or couplings. The motor is supplied with no brake, so static load holding must be provided by drive-applied torque or an external mechanical clamp when power is removed.
