Product Description:
The 23.SM.000.3400 is a compact synchronous servo motor produced by KEB within the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed for dynamic positioning in packaging machines, pick-and-place axes, and small conveyor sections, the unit converts drive current into precise rotary motion while maintaining tight speed regulation. Its B5 IFT5-compatible flange supports direct attachment to suitable machine interfaces, while the shaft has a feather key for secure torque transfer to gearboxes or pulleys. The motor does not include an integral holding brake, making it suitable for back-drivable applications that use an external clamping mechanism when stationary.
The electrical stack is designed for a nominal bus voltage of 330 V in 400 V inverter systems. The motor provides a locked-rotor torque of 0.6 Nm without excessive heating under the intended operating conditions. At a rated speed of 3000 rpm, it delivers continuous cyclic motion suited to light-duty servo applications such as label applicators and electronic cams. Its rotor inertia is only 0.11 kg·cm², permitting fast acceleration with limited drive current and helping reduce overshoot during rapid reversals. The low inertia also supports responsive changes in direction where short machine cycles require frequent starts and stops.
The housing has an IP54 ingress protection rating, so dust deposits and incidental water splashes do not impair operation in typical factory environments. Its total mass is 1.25 kg, easing installation on small gantries or cantilevered fixtures where added axis weight can affect acceleration. Heat is removed through self-cooling, eliminating the need for an external blower and reducing the number of auxiliary connections around the motor. Power and feedback leads terminate in a terminal box that accepts standard industrial cable glands and provides an enclosed location for wiring connections. Rotor position is reported by a 2-pole resolver SSBH-15-E-5, providing the drive with the feedback required for electronic commutation and closed-loop motion control. The resolver’s analog feedback is suitable for industrial machinery where vibration and electrical noise may be present during operation.
