Product Description:
The D2.SM.001-3400 is a synchronous servo motor manufactured by KEB and supplied within the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. This product acts as an electromechanical actuator that delivers precise torque and velocity control for automated pick-and-place modules, feeders, or tooling axes. Its D2 frame size provides a compact envelope, and the factory-installed holding brake secures the shaft when power is removed, making the unit appropriate for vertically mounted loads that must not drift.
The motor develops a stall torque of 8.2 Nm, giving the drive the capacity to maintain a stationary load under continuous current. Its base speed of 3000 rpm matches common servo controllers that modulate frequency for rapid indexing cycles. The stator is wound for 330 V when powered from a 400 V AC inverter, while installations using a shared DC link can supply 560 V directly to the bus. These voltage ratings support the motor’s required electromagnetic flux and operating current. The enclosure has an IP54 rating, which limits dust ingress and protects the motor against splashing water. Power is introduced through a terminal box, and natural convection carries heat away from the housing surface. The magnetic design supports smooth axis movement during low-speed operation.
The motor’s thermal design allows intermittent overload within the winding temperature class without requiring an external blower. The housing uses a B5 IFT5 flange pattern for attachment to gearboxes or machine plates, while a 2-pole resolver SSBH-15-E-5 supplies rotor position feedback to the drive. Mechanical output is transmitted through a shaft equipped with a feather key, which prevents pulleys or couplings from slipping around the shaft. The motor has an overall mass of 5.7 kg, which supports manageable installation while providing enough mass to help damp minor vibration.
