Product Description:
The 03.SD.R10-0009 synchronous servo motor is produced by KEB as part of the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is intended for light-duty feed drives and indexing units where closed-loop velocity and position control are required in industrial automation. By delivering repeatable torque in a small frame, the motor integrates easily into compact assemblies such as pick-and-place heads and small packaging stations.
The stator windings and feedback lines terminate inside a terminal box, allowing rigid conduit entry and strain relief near the machine frame. Heat is removed through separate forced-air ventilation, so an external blower supplies airflow that keeps the winding temperature below rated limits during continuous operation. Position feedback comes from a HIPERFACE multi-turn SKM36 encoder with 128 increments. Its multi-turn capability records absolute revolutions, simplifying homing after a loss of power. The motor can deliver 0.52 Nm of stall torque, providing steady force at zero speed for holding or slow indexing tasks without overheating. The enclosure meets an ingress protection rating of IP54, protecting internal components against harmful dust deposits and water splashes under normal plant conditions.
Mechanical integration is handled by a B5 IFT5 flange that matches IEC face-mounted gearboxes and brackets, maintaining precise alignment without additional adapter plates. The rotor is manufactured without a brake, so stopping energy must be absorbed by the drive or an external locking mechanism when the motor is used on a vertical axis. With a mass of 0.86 kg, the motor adds little weight to compact machinery and supports short acceleration ramps on linear robots. Power is transmitted through a keyed shaft interface supplied with a feather key, providing positive engagement with pulleys or couplings. Motor size 03 establishes the external envelope and bolt circle used for installation within the series. The compact mounting arrangement also reduces the space required around the driven assembly while maintaining access to the terminal box and ventilation path.
