Product Description:
The 43.SM.201-44BJ is produced by KEB for the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series and serves as a compact drive element in industrial positioning axes. Its mechanical outline follows the long housing design of a three-phase asynchronous motor, but the unit operates as a synchronous servo motor. It provides closed-loop motion accuracy for packaging lines, pick-and-place modules, and other automated machinery that requires controlled positioning and repeatable movement.
Thermal management is handled by self-cooling, so external blowers or liquid circuits are unnecessary during rated operation. The housing has an IP54 protection rating, which limits dust ingress and resists water splashes encountered inside production cells. Rotor speed reaches 4000 rpm, allowing rapid cycle times while remaining within the magnetic and mechanical limits of the stator stack. At standstill, the motor can generate a continuous stall torque of 7.5 Nm. It operates with a DC-link voltage of 330 V for the 400 V class or 560 V DC, making it suitable for use with common servo inverters. Dynamic behavior is influenced by a reflected inertia of 4.5 kgcm², which supports predictable acceleration when the motor is coupled to low-mass loads. The B5 IFT5-compatible flange aligns the frame with gearboxes or machinery plates. A built-in feather-keyed shaft provides positive torque transmission to the connected mechanical load without relying solely on friction.
A brake mounted on the non-drive end supplies 9 Nm of holding torque, preventing vertical loads from back-driving whenever motor power is removed. The motor weighs 7.6 kg without the brake, which reduces handling effort during installation while providing sufficient thermal mass for a stable temperature rise. Its frame is identified by motor size 43, which corresponds to the mounting envelope used for this model. The long housing accommodates additional winding length, supporting increased power density within the available frame. The keyed output shaft provides a secure mechanical connection for couplings, pulleys, or gearboxes used in positioning equipment. The brake remains separate from the stated base weight, which should be considered when calculating the total supported mass for the mounting surface.
