Product Description:

The E3.SM.000-3400 is a permanent-magnet synchronous servo motor made by KEB and supplied in the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is intended for closed-loop industrial axes where precise speed and torque regulation are required to position tooling, conveyors, or actuator screws. In automated equipment, the motor works with a servo drive that monitors feedback and adjusts current to match commanded motion. Because it is a synchronous servo motor, the rotor magnetic field stays aligned with the commanded electrical field, which supports smooth speed control and accurate positioning under changing loads.

Under continuous operation, the motor runs at a rated speed of 3400 rpm. It delivers 11 Nm of rated torque, which corresponds to 3.91 kW of mechanical power, when supplied with a line-to-line voltage of 480 V. The rated current at that operating point is 8.1 A, and the rotor uses five pole pairs that shape the motor's electromagnetic behavior. When the shaft is held at standstill, the motor can produce a stall torque of 29 Nm if the drive supplies 17.2 A. Rotor inertia is 29 kg cm², and the servo controller uses a stator winding inductance of 4.2 mH, a winding resistance of 0.45 Ω, and a rated motor frequency of 283 Hz to model current response and thermal loading during steady motion.

For demanding moves, the drive can exceed nominal values for short periods. Instantaneous acceleration can be supported up to 110.84 Nm, provided the current stays at or below 80.9 A. During these transients, the rotor can reach a maximum speed of 6000 rpm, so the coupled feedback device and mechanical connection must be suitable for that speed. The back electromotive force is 164.05 Vpk/1000 rpm, which the inverter uses to determine available voltage margin before field weakening begins. This helps the drive maintain torque response while staying within the available DC bus voltage at higher speeds.
