The M1.SM.001-6220 is a synchronous servo motor manufactured by KEB as part of the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop control systems, it provides the rotary actuation needed in pick-and-place heads, light conveyor drives, and compact assembly stations where high speed and repeatable positioning are required. Its compact servo design supports accurate starts, stops, and direction changes in automated equipment that depends on stable motion control. It is also suitable for small rotary axes that must reverse frequently without losing tracking accuracy during normal machine cycles.
During continuous operation the motor delivers 200 W of mechanical output while maintaining a shaft speed of 6000 rpm. At that operating point, it produces a continuous torque of 0.32 Nm and draws a phase current of 1.0 A from the matched inverter. Copper losses are influenced by a winding resistance of 21 Ω, while an inductance of 9.9 mH shapes current rise time and supports smooth commutation. The rotor’s 0.17 kg·cm² inertia helps the axis accelerate quickly without excessive overshoot. When the motor is held stationary, stall conditions can be tolerated up to 1.2 A of current with a stall torque limit of 0.34 Nm. A brake coil absorbs 0.46 A at 24 VDC to energize the integrated holding brake.
For transient moves, the drive can reach a peak torque of 1.7 Nm, giving short bursts of additional force beyond its rated range. The housing is sealed to IP65, allowing installation in dusty or splash-prone areas outside electrical cabinets. The stator windings correspond to a 190 V voltage variant, so the motor should be paired with a compatible drive supply. When power is removed, the spring-applied brake secures the shaft with 2.0 Nm of holding torque to help keep a parked or vertical axis in position. This arrangement is useful on axes that must remain fixed between cycles or during a power-off stop.
