The 42.SM.201-44BJ is manufactured by KEB as part of the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is a synchronous servo motor intended to deliver accurate velocity and position control in packaging machines, material-handling axes, and other automation systems that rely on closed-loop drives. KEB uses a long-frame, three-phase design and equips the motor with a shaft that carries a feather key, allowing direct coupling to pulleys or gearboxes without additional adapters. This shaft arrangement provides positive torque transfer during repeated acceleration and deceleration cycles.
The unit uses self-cooling, so heat is removed by surface convection and no external fan is required. The rated rotor speed reaches 4000 rpm, providing a broad operating range for indexing or continuous-duty motion. The motor provides a continuous stall torque of 5.3 Nm while the shaft is stationary. A nominal DC bus of 330 V, matched to 400 V class inverters, supplies power for motor operation, and the windings can also operate from a 560 V DC link when required. The rotor has a moment of inertia of 3.13 kg·cm², supporting rapid acceleration while helping limit overshoot in high-gain servo loops. Its cooling method also reduces the number of auxiliary components required around the motor housing.
An integrated holding brake develops 9 Nm of torque to secure vertical or suspended loads whenever power is removed. The motor frame weighs 5.7 kg without the brake, allowing installation on relatively light machine structures. The enclosure has an ingress protection rating of IP54, guarding internal parts against harmful dust deposits and splashing water in typical industrial settings. A B5 flange compatible with IFT5 provides standardized face dimensions for mounting the motor to supported equipment.
