The 53.SM.201-44CJ is a servo motor manufactured by KEB and assigned to the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is a three-phase synchronous machine built for dynamic motion control inside industrial automation cells. By converting electrical power into tightly regulated shaft movement, the motor supports indexing tables, gantry axes, and feed drives that demand repeatable positioning under electronic control. Its synchronous design allows the drive to maintain accurate rotor alignment during acceleration and deceleration, which helps axes stop consistently at commanded positions.
The motor operates from a nominal 330 V DC link supply, which balances insulation requirements with drive-side switching losses. At rated speed, it turns at 4000 rpm, giving a useful speed range for gear-reduced linear actuators and fast rotary tooling. A die-cast flange drilled to the B5 interface lets the stator bolt directly to IEC housings. The housing sealing meets IP65, so airborne dust and low-pressure water jets cannot reach the windings. Overall length with the electromagnetic brake and encoder is 299 mm, and the front shaft gland carries an IP64 rating that protects the bearing set. Position data leave the encoder in 32 incremental steps per revolution to support stable velocity feedback during rapid speed changes.
A standard holding brake is integrated, so the unit is delivered with a standard brake for vertical axes or emergency stops. Heat is removed by the frame itself because the design is self-cooled, avoiding separate blower wiring and keeping external connections simpler. Multi-turn position feedback uses the EnDat multiturn protocol, and the sensing hardware is the EQI 1329 encoder so the drive can recover absolute position after power cycles. Thermal monitoring is performed by a PTC resistor embedded in the stator windings, enabling the inverter to reduce load or shut down before insulation temperatures rise too far. The feedback and temperature signals help the control system track shaft position and winding condition during repeated start-stop operation.
