In material-handling lines, packaging cells, or machine tools, it integrates with closed-loop drives to deliver rapid acceleration and repeatable motion profiles. Feedback, thermal sensing, and mechanical mounting features are contained in one housing, providing the compact envelope and limited wiring required for servo axes.
Mechanical installation follows the Flange B5 IFT5 pattern, so the motor seats against a standardized pilot and locks to the machine frame with through-bolts. Its housing carries an IP65 ingress protection rating, blocking dust and water jets during washdown cycles. The stator windings are rated for 330 V, matching KEB drives that supply three-phase bus voltages in this range. Heat is removed by a self-cooling aluminum casing that dissipates losses without external fans, allowing simpler machine and cabinet layouts. Temperature monitoring relies on positive-temperature-coefficient sensors embedded in the end windings. The motor uses one to three detectors, which trigger an alarm when resistance rises above 1650 Ω and indicates an overheating condition. The drive then ramps down until the resistance falls below the 500 Ω reset point. At ambient startup, each sensor has a resistance of approximately 400 Ω, indicating a cold state before operation begins. A secondary radial seal around the shaft face carries an IP64 classification, helping contain lubricant and shield the encoder bore from spray during high-duty production cycles.
