The 05.SM.R10-0009 is a synchronous servo motor manufactured by KEB. This rotating actuator is installed in machinery that requires precise speed and position control, such as indexing tables, form-fill-seal drives, and material-handling axes. When coupled to a digital servo inverter, it converts controlled stator current into repeatable torque for coordinated multi-axis motion in automated production cells. The permanent-magnet rotor responds rapidly to changes in the stator field, supporting accurate acceleration, deceleration, and positioning under changing loads.
Electrical terminations are routed through a terminal box, providing direct access to the phase, ground, and feedback conductors without requiring frame disassembly. Internal heat is removed through separate ventilation; an external blower directs cooling air across the stator so the motor can remain within its thermal limits during continuous-duty operation. Rotor angle and revolution count are detected by a HIPERFACE multi-turn SKM36 encoder with 128 increments, which supplies absolute feedback to the drive after power is restored. Housing gaskets and seals provide IP54 protection, limiting the entry of dust and water spray that could damage the winding insulation. The motor is supplied with no holding brake, so vertical loads must be secured by drive-generated torque or an external mechanical device during a power loss. This arrangement requires the connected machine to provide a suitable means of preventing unintended shaft movement whenever active motor torque is unavailable.
Mounting follows the B5 IFT5 flange layout, which provides a centering pilot and threaded holes for coupling the motor to gearboxes or machine plates. Mechanical output is delivered through a shaft with a feather key, providing positive engagement with pulleys or rigid couplings while helping prevent slippage under peak load. The flange supports accurate alignment between the motor shaft and the connected equipment, reducing avoidable loading on bearings and couplings. As part of the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series, the unit uses the electrical constants and dimensional coding associated with that product line. Its permanent magnets remain synchronized with the rotating stator field, allowing commanded torque to increase rapidly as the drive adjusts motor current.
