Internal Product Review
The A1.SM.502-64B0 is a KEB synchronous-servo motor with self-cooling and IP54 protection, making it a very capable choice for dependable industrial motion service. The 2-pole resolver SSBH-15-E-5 encoder and 6000 rpm speed rating support accurate feedback and responsive operation. A 2.69 Nm maximum torque stands out as a strong performance point for a compact servo package.

Product Description:
The A1.SM.502-64B0 is a synchronous servo motor produced by KEB for the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It converts electrical power from matched inverters into precise rotary motion for pick-and-place axes, indexing tables, and other industrial automation equipment. Permanent-magnet excitation and closed-loop control provide fast torque response while maintaining positional accuracy under varying load conditions.
At continuous duty, the motor draws 0.85 A, with an identical stall-current rating. During rapid acceleration, the drive may supply up to 4.9 A, allowing the rotor to reach a maximum speed of 6000 rpm. Mechanical output peaks at 2.69 Nm, and the shaft can withstand a permissible radial load of 500 N. The three-pole-pair winding produces a back electromotive force of 52 V peak per 1,000 rpm, resulting in approximately 312 V at the terminals when the motor operates at maximum speed. This electrical configuration corresponds to 330 V for the 400 V class with a 560 V DC bus. The enclosure has an IP54 protection rating, which guards internal components against limited dust ingress and splashing water. Its self-cooling design dissipates heat without requiring an external blower.
The aluminum frame weighs 1.0 kg and is 111.5 mm long, allowing the motor to fit into compact multi-axis assemblies that use the A1 frame size. A 63 mm B5 flange compatible with IFT5 mounting centers the motor body, while the 9 k6 mm shaft is supplied without a feather key for use with clamping couplings. The rotor has an inertia of 0.13 kgcm², supporting fast indexing and responsive acceleration. The winding has an inductance of 82.4 mH, while its phase resistance of 39.4 Ω supports drive calculations for current regulation and thermal loading. Position feedback is supplied by a two-pole SSBH-15-E-5 resolver, allowing the inverter to monitor rotor position throughout operation. The motor is supplied without a holding brake, so stationary loads must be retained by drive torque or an external locking device when required.
