Internal Product Review

The C2.SM.001-320R is a KEB synchronous servo motor with 1.14 kW rated power and 3.9 Nm rated torque. A 9000 rpm maximum speed and 18.90 Nm maximum torque give the unit strong dynamic range for demanding motion profiles. Excellent electrical balance from 22.2 mH winding inductance and 3.7 Ω winding resistance makes the motor a very capable choice.

Product Description:

The C2.SM.001-320R synchronous servo motor is produced by KEB within the SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is a compact permanent-magnet rotary actuator intended for closed-loop positioning and speed control on packaging machines, pick-and-place axes, and other automated equipment where quick response and repeatable motion are required. In these tasks, the motor converts electrical drive output into mechanical shaft rotation with accurate torque delivery. Its synchronous design keeps rotor motion tied to the drive command, which is useful in coordinated axes that must track repeatable motion profiles. The motor is suited to compact machine sections where responsive motion and stable speed regulation are both required.

During continuous duty, the motor operates at a rated shaft speed of 2800 rpm and delivers rated torque of 3.9 Nm; at that operating point, it produces 1.14 kW of mechanical power. To sustain that output, the stator draws a rated phase current of 3.8 A from the inverter and is energized at a fundamental electrical frequency of 187 Hz. The rotor uses four pole pairs, so the mechanical speed is one quarter of the electrical frequency. A 22.2 mH phase inductance smooths current ripple, while the 3.7 Ω winding resistance contributes to steady-state copper losses and thermal rise. This balance of speed, torque, and current supports steady production duty without requiring the drive to operate near its short-term limits during normal running.

For short acceleration bursts, the motor accepts up to 22.7 A, permitting a peak shaft velocity of 9000 rpm. Under these transient conditions, it can reach a maximum torque of 18.90 Nm, giving strong breakaway force for rapid indexing. If the shaft is held locked, the design withstands a stall torque of 4.1 Nm without demagnetizing the rotor. A back-emf gradient of 96.17 Vpk/1000 rpm provides predictable voltage feedback to the drive, which supports stable commutation and field-oriented control across the speed range. That combination of peak speed and overload current helps the axis clear inertia quickly during indexing, transfer, and rapid repositioning moves.
