Product Description:
The SM 56-S-4000-G belongs to one of Kollmorgen’s leading motor series, the SM product line. As part of the SM motor family, this synchronous servomotor can match the speed of the generated magnetic field across the motor windings. Synchronous motors are able to match the speed of the generated magnetic field via an external field or excitation circuit. For this motor by Kollmorgen, the excitation or drive circuit is typically provided by the digital amplifier or drive. Aside from being a synchronous servomotor, the SM 56-S-4000-G also features a brushless construction, allowing it to achieve almost zero cogging effect during operation. Compared to traditional servomotors, brushless motors like the SM 56-S-4000-G are more reliable and stable.
Like other SM motors manufactured and released by Kollmorgen, the SM 56-S-4000-G can operate at an ambient temperature range of 5 to 40 degrees Celsius to achieve nominal values. At this ambient temperature range, the permissible humidity should be non-condensing and below 85%. Below an installation level of 1000 meters above sea level, the SM 56-S-4000-G delivers nominal performance. At most, this servomotor can safely operate even with a flange surface temperature of 65 degrees Celsius. With its motor housing, the servomotor is resistant against dust and low-pressure liquid jets.
At rated or nameplate operation, the SM 56-S-4000-G can accelerate up to a speed of 4000 rpm. At this shaft speed, the nominal voltage and current of the motor can reach 240 V and 9 A. At this continuous output current, the shaft can drive loads at a torque output of 3.2 Nm. At standstill conditions, the SM 56-S-4000-G can achieve a current and torque throughput of up to 10.2 A and 3.8 Nm, respectively.
