The BK EtherCAT Bus Couplers series links Beckhoff terminal stations to EtherCAT and includes models for both direct connection of K-bus terminals and mixed stations that combine EtherCAT terminals with standard Bus Terminals.
In this series, the BK1120 and BK1150 act as EtherCAT couplers for KL-series K-bus terminals, while the BK1250 serves as a transition device between EL-series EtherCAT terminals and KL-series Bus Terminals in the same station. The couplers automatically detect connected terminals and assign them into the EtherCAT process image, and the platform supports up to 64 terminals per station or up to 255 with K-bus extension. Series functionality also includes EtherCAT communication over 100BASE-TX, CoE-based access, optional Distributed Clocks support, and configuration through TwinCAT for setup and diagnostics. Overall, the BK family is intended as a compact modular I/O interface for EtherCAT systems that need to reuse or integrate Beckhoff Bus Terminal hardware without separate gateway hardware.
