Product Description:
The BK5110 Bus Coupler is designed and developed by Beckhoff. The Canopen bus coupler serves as a professional module intended for Industrial Automation applications.
The BK5110 bus coupler is suitable for harsh industrial environments with a wide temperature tolerance of -25…+60 °C and -40…+85 °C for both operation and storage respectively. It does not support analog input or output devices. It is able to connect up to 64 I/O terminals directly. The external protection should not exceed 10 A to avoid overcurrent damage. In this module the maximum communication distance depends on the selected baud rate. It has the capability to work in very humid conditions up to 95% humidity provided there's no condensation. Reliable data transmission is ensured using a shielded and twisted pair cable with grounding. The module internal power line supports a maximum of 24 V and 10 A for downstream devices. In this module total usable input and output is based on the terminal configuration and connected devices. It is designed to support up to 256 digital Input and outputs which is suitable for large scale automation.
The BK EtherCAT Bus Couplers series module drawn includes 70 mA and the K bus load capped at 200 mA. It supports flexible configuration either through B & R's KS2000 software or directly via controller. The module allows process data outputs and 5 inputs over CANopen for real time exchange. It is easy to mount on DIN rails without strain as it has a mass of 130 grams only. This coupler supports up to 64 stations that can be extendable to 255 with specific hardware. In this module high speed communication is supported with data transfer rate up to 1 Mbaud.
Frequently Asked Questions about BK5110:
Q: What is the purpose of the 500 mA K-bus current in BK5110 Bus Coupler?
A: The 500 mA K-bus current supplies power to connected I/O terminals efficiently. It ensures stable module operation without external power dependencies.
Q: How does the 5 Tx/Rx PDOs enhance communication in BK5110?
A: The 5 Tx/Rx PDOs allow simultaneous data exchange between the coupler and devices. This improves process response times in time-critical automation.
Q: Why is electrical isolation of 500 V important in BK5110 Bus Coupler?
A: It protects the internal circuits from voltage surges between supply and power contacts. This increases system reliability and prevents potential hardware failures.
Q: Can the BK5110 Bus Coupler be integrated with custom CANopen networks easily?
A: Yes, the BK5110 supports flexible PDO mapping and standard CANopen features. It allows easy adaptation to various network topologies and devices.
Q: What is the advantage of node guarding in BK5110 Bus Coupler operation?
A: Node guarding continuously checks the module’s operational status on the CANopen network. It enhances fault detection and communication stability.
