Product Description:

The BK3100 PROFIBUS Bus Coupler from Beckhoff is designed for reliable fieldbus communication in industrial automation. It has an operating temperature of 0 to 55°C and can store between -25 and 85°C. The unit runs stably at up to 95% relative humidity without condensation. Electrical isolation to 500 V is offered between the power contact, supply voltage, and fieldbus.

The BK3100 bus coupler is about 170 g and has an IP20 protection rating with adjustable installation positions. It is in accordance with vibration and shock resistance requirements of EN 60068-2-6 and EN 60068-2-27. Input current is rated at 70 mA plus a portion of the K-bus current, a maximum of 500 mA. Power contacts support a maximum of 24 V DC and up to 10 A current. The BK3100 bus coupler employs a power supply of 24 V DC with a -15% to +20% tolerance. The start current is 2.5 times the continuous current for safe system operation. The coupler suggests a fuse rating of 10 A or lower for adequate circuit protection. The supply of current by the K-bus is up to 1750 mA to serve connected terminals. The coupler housing is constructed using polycarbonate material. Its terminal housing is compact and features built-in signal LEDs for simple status monitoring.

The BK3100 bus coupler is mounted securely on a 35 mm DIN rail as per EN 60715 with a lock. The side-by-side mounting system employs a double slot and key connection for mounting. Conductor cross-sections range from 0.08 to 2.5 mm² for solid and flexible wires and 0.14 to 1.5 mm² for ferrules. The required stripping length is maintained between 8 to 9 mm. EMC immunity and emission are guaranteed in accordance with EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4 standards.
