Product Description:

The BK1120 is a reliable bus coupler designed by Beckhoff Automation to be used in the EtherCAT communication protocol. This product functions to connect the EtherCAT communication protocol with Bus terminals. This product contains two main connection interfaces, which include the RJ45 socket; these connection interfaces can support connection lengths as high as 100 meters. The actual connection of the coupler to the terminal is done using the upper connection socket, and the lower socket further connects other EtherCAT devices in the same segment. The power supply requirement of this coupler is provided by a 24 Volt direct current supply unit. The direct installation of this unit at the switch of the EtherCAT communication network is not allowed; however, installation anywhere in the Ethernet signal transfer section is permissible.

The BK1120 comes with up to six LEDs for diagnostic purposes; these LEDs communicate the power status, input/output errors, and lots more. There are up to 64 bus terminals present on this device; this number can be increased to about 255 through the use of the K-bus extension system. The maximum number of signal bytes that is supported by this unit is 1024 signal bytes, and 1024 byte output. Transfer of data also happens at a rate of 100 megabits per second.

The BK1120 requires an input current of about 70 milliamperes, with its starting current being approximately 2.5 times the continuous current. Additional protection must be provided by operators in the form of a fuse; the recommended fuse should have a capacity of less than 10 amperes. The power contact, supply voltage and Ethernet Connection are electrically isolated. The total weight of this unit is approximately 150 grams. Its housing is also made from polycarbonate material.
