The BK7520 bus coupler from Beckhoff is part of the BK EtherCAT Bus Couplers series. It links EtherCAT terminal blocks to higher-level controls by using the SERCOS II fieldbus protocol and an FSMA fiber interface, which reaches a maximum transmission rate of 16 Mbaud across polymer fiber with a 1000 µm core and permits station spacing up to 40 m. The coupler operates from a 24 V DC nominal supply and draws up to 500 mA, while its integrated K-bus distributes 1750 mA to attached I/O terminals. Up to 64 bus terminals can be connected without an extension, accommodating 254 analog and 1020 digital peripheral signals for diverse process data. The housing carries an IP20 rating and measures 51 mm in width, 100 mm in height, and 69 mm in depth, facilitating installation in standard control cabinets.
