Product Description:
The BK1150 is an extremely compact coupler designed by Beckhoff Automation to be used with the EtherCAT communication network. This coupler provides a reliable link between the EtherCAT protocol at the field bus and the Bus terminals; this allows for efficient communication between the main network and peripheral devices connected through the Bus terminals. Originally, this product operates with about 64 bus terminals; however, the number of terminals can be significantly increased to 255 through the use of a K-BUS extension system. The connection technology of this product involves two main serial connection interfaces; the upper one serves to connect the coupler to the network, while the lower interface is designed to serve as a backup option for the connection of other devices that operate with the EtherCAT protocol.
A 24-volt power supply is provided for both the system and field supply through the BK1150 coupler. The supplied voltage is also used to provide the connected bus terminal with the current it requires for communication from the supplied system voltage. Installation of this unit is very easy to carry out; installation anywhere in the Ethernet signal transfer section is supported by this unit, apart from direct installation at the switch. The BK1150 supports connection lengths as high as 100 meters; this provides operators with greater flexibility when it comes to the installation position. A properly shielded Ethernet connection cable should be used.
The BK1150 can support a data transfer rate of 100 megabits per second; the current supply at the B-bus for this unit is about 1750 milliamperes. The external dimension of this unit is determined to be a 44 millimeters width, 100 millimeters height, and 68 millimeters depth. The unit also weighs a total of 100 grams.
