The IE Extension Box Units series is a group of Beckhoff Fieldbus Box modules designed as extension stations for distributed I/O systems, operating in conjunction with a Coupler Box through the optical fiber-based IP-Link interface.
These units cover a broad range of industrial signal types, including digital and analog I/O as well as special-function interfaces, allowing them to be used across varied machine-level control tasks. The series is built for decentralized installation, with extension modules able to be placed up to 15 meters apart while maintaining a compact form factor and high environmental protection for field use. Depending on the signal type, connection options include 8 mm snap-on connectors, M8 screw-in connectors, and M12 screw-in connectors, with M12 versions used for analog signals. IE Extension Box Units are intended to form part of an IP67 distributed I/O network in which connected modules are recognized by the Coupler Box and integrated into the control system as part of a single fieldbus device.
