The IE2322-0000 is an extension I/O box manufactured by Beckhoff and assigned to the IE Extension Box Units series. This field-mountable module gathers and distributes digital input and output signals in automation equipment. It lets controllers place I/O channels close to sensors and actuators to shorten wiring runs and simplify panel layouts.

Four input channels and four output channels are available, giving 4 digital inputs for status acquisition and 4 digital outputs for device actuation. Each output can switch up to 2.0 A, while the module’s aggregate limit is 4 A, allowing parallel loads without exceeding the conductor ratings. The outputs share a rated load voltage of 24 VDC, so standard control power supplies can feed the box. The short-circuit current is limited to 4.0 A to protect cable harnesses during faults. On the input side, the terminals draw only 6 mA and pass through a 3.0 ms filter that suppresses bouncing contacts. Input process data occupy 4 bits, and output process data also occupy 4 bits, which simplifies mapping in the controller. A dedicated sensor supply delivers 0.5 A per channel, minimizing voltage drop along short lead runs.

The housing carries fully molded M12 sockets for I/O, and the signal wiring is secured by the M12 screw-in threads that resist vibration in mobile or high-cycle equipment. Supply power is looped through a 1 x M8 connector, 4-pin inlet, with a matching 4-pin M8 outlet that forwards the same source to additional boxes. Each output channel draws only 30 mA per channel from the logic supply, conserving headroom for larger actuators. Environmental sealing is rated IP65, IP66, IP67, enabling installation directly on machines where washdowns or airborne dust are present. These protections, combined with the channel current capacity and short-circuit limiting, allow the unit to remain outside a control cabinet without additional enclosures.
