The IE2332-0000 is an eight-channel input/output extension box produced by Beckhoff within the IE Extension Box Units series. Intended for decentralized installation close to sensors and actuators, the device presents four digital input points and four digital output points to the machine without occupying cabinet space. By transferring switching and sensing lines onto rugged keyed connectors, the unit streamlines field wiring and supplies regulated 24-volt power directly to connected loads in automated material-handling, packaging, and assembly equipment.

Each input channel draws 6 mA of sensing current and passes through an 0.2 ms filter that suppresses contact bounce produced by mechanical switches. Compliance with the EN 61131-2 Type 2 category certifies that the inputs recognize standard 24-volt logic levels. Output power is routed through one 4-pin M8 plug and one 4-pin M8 socket feed-through, and integrated fieldbus isolation prevents return currents from disturbing upstream devices. The cast-metal housing carries an IP67 protection class, enabling direct mounting on tooling or conveyor frames. All channels switch the common 24 VDC rated load voltage, while the electronics section consumes only 30 mA, leaving the main supply available for actuator loads.

The controller image exposes 4 In Bits + 4 Out Bits, so the PLC accesses each signal by single-bit addressing without extra scaling. Field conductors terminate on the M12 screw-in sockets, whose threaded collars maintain contact integrity under shock. Each output line can deliver 2.0 A, which is also the continuous sensor supply capacity, permitting proximity switches and low-power actuators to share the rail. Electronic protection disconnects the channel when the load tries to draw 4.0 A, and the group current must remain below the 4 A total rating to protect copper traces.
