Beckhoff IE2021 is an 8-point digital output extension box that is included in Beckhoff's modular automation hardware line. The box is built for easy integration into industrial automation setups, offering a fault-tolerant connection between a central automation controller and field actuators.
The IE2021 box has eight digital output channels with M8 screw-type terminals for safe cabling. One channel can be driven with an output current as high as 2 A, and each individual channel is short-circuit protected. The box has a nominal output voltage of 24 V DC with ±15% - +20% tolerance. Ohmic, inductive, and lamp loads are all supported, with reverse polarity protection. Electrical isolation of the fieldbus from the control voltage is through the IP-Link interface. The current consumption of the module from the supply voltage is 25 mA, not including sensor current, and auxiliary power consumption is around 30 mA per channel. Plastic is used in the housing, and it can be mounted on a DIN rail. Temperatures range from 0°C to 55°C for use and from -25°C to +85°C for keeping. Each channel has four LEDs that show the signal state, and the power source is connected by a single M8 male socket that is coded A.
