The 1MB High-Speed Asynchronous Motors from Bosch Rexroth Indramat are liquid-cooled kit spindle motors intended primarily as direct drives in motor-driven spindles for machine-tool applications.
The motor is built as a stator/rotor kit (1MS stator + 1MR rotor) that is integrated into the spindle housing, with the motor typically positioned between the main bearings to increase spindle rigidity and enable functions like main spindle and C-axis operation with a single drive on lathes. Because the stator is water-cooled, the design supports high power density, with coolant removing stator losses and a large portion of rotor losses through the spindle’s cooling system. A separate motor feedback assembly is integrated into the spindle to measure rotor position and provide the controller with the information needed for speed and spindle-position control. The series is specified for defined operating limits such as 0 to 40 °C ambient, IC3W7 water cooling, IP00 protection class, and an electrical connection concept using open-ended leads for power and temperature sensors (KTY/NTC/bimetal) as part of the spindle integration.
