The liquid-cooled asynchronous frameless spindle motors of the 1MB series by Bosch Rexroth are designed to be used as direct drives in motor spindles. These motors display a high rigidity and power density, making them suitable for turning, grinding, and milling operations in machine tools, transfer lines, and special-purpose machines. The rotors of the 1MR series are components of these motors.

The 1MR240B-A087 is a model of rotors in the 1MR series created by Bosch Rexroth. It is the rotor of a Bosch Rexroth 1MB frameless spindle motor whose frame size is 240 and frame length is D. It consists of a sleeve and a laminated core with a step interference fit. There are balancing rings in front of this device with tapped holes used for balancing the 1MB motor to the specific grade of vibration severity desired by the user. This is in line with the DIN VDE 0530 requirement. When it is mounted, it aligns to the spindle through its graduated fitting surfaces, which have slightly graduated diameters.

The inside diameter of the 1MR240B-A087 is 87mm and its moment of inertia is 0.135 kgm². Although most of the power loss of the motor occurs in the rotor, it is removed through an air gap in the stator. Its laminated core is protected against corrosion by a red lacquer coating applied at the factory before being delivered to users. Corrosion protection can be reapplied after it is assembled and mounted to prevent corrosion. Like its stator, this 1MR motor model has an Ingress Protection rating of IP 00; hence, it should be protected against water jets and used with protective seals in damp or foggy atmospheres.
