The 1MS480A-GA-A2 stator is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the 1MB High-Speed Asynchronous Motors series. As a frameless spindle motor component, the stator is supplied without a rotor so it can be embedded directly in high-speed machining spindles and other precision automation axes. Its role is to generate the rotating magnetic field that drives the spindle shaft once the matching rotor is fitted, enabling compact, high-power-density assemblies in industrial machining centers and automated production lines. Because the stator is frameless, the surrounding spindle structure determines the final bearing support and enclosure arrangement.

Thermal management is handled by liquid cooling circulated through an aluminum jacket that surrounds the laminations. The coolant circuit may be pressurized up to 6 bar, giving adequate margin for high flow rates without leakage. An open IP00 construction lowers magnetic gap losses but requires installation in a protected housing. Power leads are dimensioned at 16 mm² and arrive preloomed in a 1.5 m cable routed through the stator end, simplifying cabinet wiring. A matching ground conductor terminates in a ring terminal, providing a low-impedance safety path to ground within the spindle head. The routed cable exit keeps the conductors together at the stator end, which supports orderly connection to the drive cabinet and grounding point.

The mechanical envelope corresponds to motor length code A, which gives the stator a known stack height for the matching rotor set and spindle geometry. Continuous operation produces less than 75 dB(A) of noise at nominal speed, which supports quieter machining cells. Reliable service is maintained up to 1000 m installation altitude without derating, while storage conditions span -20 °C to 60 °C and transport limits extend to 80 °C. These operating limits allow the stator to be stored and moved without special handling beyond normal temperature control.
