Pacific Scientific POWERMAX II M motors are enhanced hybrid step motors that use Sigmax technology, which adds samarium-cobalt stator magnet inserts to concentrate magnetic flux and increase torque production and current utilization compared with conventional hybrid designs.
The M series is offered with laminated “L” rotors for higher-speed efficiency or low-inertia “J” rotors for faster start/stop behavior and higher acceleration capability. These are 2-phase motors with 200 full steps per revolution (1.8° step angle) and an angular accuracy of ±1.5% of one step (no-load, non-cumulative) for M and M-J variants. The family is available across multiple stack lengths with holding torque ratings reaching roughly 253 oz-in (about 1.79 Nm), and it supports multiple standard winding selections to match different driver and performance requirements. The series is specified for industrial operating conditions with a −20 to 40 °C ambient range, Class B insulation, defined radial/axial shaft load limits, and oversized 30 mm bearings that yield substantially longer bearing fatigue life than typical smaller stepper-motor bearings when operated within the stated loads.
