The M22NSXA-LDS-NS-02 is a hybrid stepper motor manufactured by Pacific Scientific within the POWERMAX II M Motors series. The device converts digital pulse trains from indexers or microstepping drives into incremental rotary motion for machine axes that require repeatable positioning, such as small gantries, labelers, and semiconductor handlers. Its standardized face and bolt pattern support installation in compatible machine layouts without requiring custom mounting hardware. The hybrid rotor design provides controlled angular movement and stable torque across the operating speed range.
The motor has a NEMA 23 frame and a double-ended shaft that simplifies the attachment of an encoder or handwheel. Each shaft revolution contains 200 full steps produced by a 1.8-degree step angle, while static step accuracy remains within ±1.5 percent for consistent indexing. The motor uses two wound phases with winding code A. These windings operate with an enhanced two-stack rotor that increases available midrange torque while maintaining predictable step response. The maximum rotational speed is 3000 rpm, providing a broad operating range for positioning and indexing axes. When the windings are not energized, the detent system provides 0.12 N·m of torque to resist unintended shaft movement.
The motor uses a Class B insulation system rated for 130 °C, which protects the windings from heat generated during sustained operation. The insulation system withstands up to 340 VDC between the windings and frame and provides 100 megohms of insulation resistance. The bearing journal has a diameter of 30 mm, helping distribute radial loads transmitted through the shaft assembly. The standard rotor is paired with enhanced laminations that promote smoother magnetic flux transitions during stepping. Permitted service temperatures range from -20 °C to +40 °C, allowing operation in enclosed machinery without tightly controlled ambient heating. Electrical leads terminate at a receptacle for an organized connection to the drive wiring.
