The M21NSXB-LSS-NS-02 motor is produced by Pacific Scientific within the POWERMAX II M Motors series. As a hybrid step motor, it converts digital pulse commands from a compatible drive into discrete shaft positions for indexing tables, metering pumps, material feeders, and other position-based automation equipment. Its compact design supports controlled incremental movement without requiring the closed-loop feedback normally used by servo systems. The motor can hold a commanded position when energized, making it suitable for applications that require repeatable starts, stops, and low-speed motion.
A frame size of NEMA 23 provides a 2.3-inch square face that fits standard mounting flanges. The internal insulation system is rated as Class B at 130 °C, supporting operation at elevated winding temperatures. The coil assembly has a dielectric strength of 340 VDC, which helps it withstand electrical stress between energized conductors and insulated surfaces. The rotor advances by 1.8 degrees per full step. Its 50-pole arrangement provides 200 discrete positions per revolution, allowing straightforward open-loop positioning without reduction gearing. The motor uses enhanced construction, a type B winding, a standard rotor, and NEMA-style mounting. Phase leads terminate through one receptacle connection, providing a compact interface for power wiring.
The winding insulation provides resistance of up to 100 megohms, helping limit leakage current under normal operating conditions. Continuous operation is permitted from -20 °C to +40 °C, accommodating unheated factory areas and ventilated control installations. Static position error remains within ±1.5% of a commanded step, supporting common indexing and dispensing tolerances. A single magnetic stack provides a balance between available torque and rotor inertia. The motor is configured without encoder feedback, so the connected step drive controls movement by tracking the number and direction of command pulses. Its standard rotor profile works with the receptacle-based lead arrangement to keep the motor and drive connection straightforward.
