The Stepnet Compact Drives series is a family of compact digital drives from Copley Controls designed for stepper motors, with products in the line offered as single-axis and dual-axis units in both module and panel-style formats.
Across the series, the drives support open-loop microstepping as well as closed-loop operation with encoder feedback, allowing a stepper motor to be used for position, velocity, and torque control in applications that need servo-like performance. Communication options within the family include CANopen, EtherCAT, and RS-232, while stand-alone command capability is also supported through interfaces such as pulse and direction, CW/CCW, PWM, analog reference, and master encoder input for gearing or camming. Control features across the range include profile position, profile velocity, profile torque, interpolated position, homing, indexing, camming, and gearing, with fully digital current, velocity, and position loops used throughout the platform. The series also includes compact machine-integration features such as programmable digital I/O, auxiliary keep-alive power, thermal and fault protection, and, on certain panel versions, Safe Torque Off and support for both incremental and absolute feedback devices.
