The SE2-090-10 is a miniature servo/stepper drive from Copley Controls in the Stepnet Compact Drives series. It forms the power interface between a motion controller and a brushless or stepper motor, delivering controlled current so that the motor follows commanded velocity or position profiles in industrial automation tasks. The drive accepts ±10 V analog commands that are converted with 12-bit resolution, giving adequate granularity for precise torque and speed regulation in pick-and-place, laboratory, or light machine-tool axes.
The output stage can deliver a continuous motor phase current of 10 Adc, and the current loop operates at 16 kHz, allowing tight regulation under rapid load changes. For integration with PLC logic and sensors, the drive provides 26 optically isolated digital inputs and 7 digital outputs that report status or activate external relays. Thermal protection is handled internally; power is shut down if the heat sink reaches 70 °C, preventing device damage in cabinets with restricted airflow. A separate velocity and position loop operates at 4 kHz to process encoder feedback and trajectory commands. Logic-level MOSFET outputs switch up to 30 V at 300 mA for brake or solenoid control without extra drivers.
An encoder interface accepts quadrature signals up to 5 MHz, so high-resolution feedback devices can be used without missing counts at top speed. Motor compatibility extends to windings with at least 200 µH of inductance, which keeps ripple current within safe limits relative to the 32 kHz PWM carrier. The aluminum case measures 114 × 73 × 21 mm and dissipates heat through its mounting surface, while the onboard encoder excitation supplies up to 400 mA per channel. The drive has a mass of only 0.19 kg, enabling placement on moving carriages when the control electronics must travel with the load.
