Product Description:

The STP-075-10 is a compact digital servo drive produced by Copley Controls for the Stepnet Compact Drives series. It interfaces with stepper or servo motors in automation cells, translating control network commands into regulated current for accurate control of machine-axis position and velocity. The unit supports CANopen motion profiles and accepts step-and-direction pulse trains, providing flexibility when connecting the drive to PLCs or motion controllers. Its compact format is suitable for automated equipment with limited control-cabinet space.

The onboard CAN interface transmits and receives data at up to 1 Mbit/sec, allowing low-latency coordination with distributed nodes. Current regulation is refreshed at 15 kHz, so commanded torque changes appear quickly at the motor terminals. The drive provides 12 opto-isolated digital inputs for limit switches, homing sensors, and user-assigned signals. It also has four sinking digital outputs for device-ready or fault signaling, and each output can carry 1 Adc without an external relay. Thermal protection trips when the internal heat sink reaches 70 °C, removing motor power to prevent damage during sustained overload conditions.

The quadrature encoder port accepts feedback signals at up to 20 Mcount/sec, supporting high-resolution position monitoring at elevated motor speeds. The built-in 5 V encoder supply can source 250 mA for typical incremental feedback devices. The high-voltage bus operates from +20 Vdc to +75 Vdc, while an overvoltage cutoff isolates the power stage at +91 Vdc to protect connected components. Continuous and peak motor current capability is 10 Adc, with a separate input surge rating of 11 Adc during rapid acceleration. A PWM ripple frequency of 30 kHz helps minimize audible noise from the motor. The drive accepts external step pulses at frequencies up to 1 MHz, allowing it to work with high-speed indexers. Its physical dimensions are 135.9 × 83.5 × 41.8 mm, allowing installation in space-constrained control cabinets while leaving room for wiring and ventilation.
