The STL-075-03 is a micro-mounted DC drive in the Stepnet Compact Drives series produced by Copley Controls. It is intended to run two-phase stepper motors or servo-grade brushless motors from a low-voltage bus, providing torque, velocity, or position regulation inside distributed industrial automation cells. By integrating power electronics, loop processing, and I/O in a 64 × 41 × 16 mm module, the unit allows installation directly on a machine frame and supports panel-dense, multi-axis motion architectures.
Electrical performance is governed by a supply range from 20 Vdc to 75 Vdc on the power rail. At nominal load the amplifier sources a continuous phase current of 2 Apeak while drawing 2.5 Adc from the bus. During acceleration it can deliver 3 Apeak for a maximum of 1 s, with a corresponding 3.5 Adc input. The digitally implemented current loop closes at 15 kHz, allowing tight control of motor torque even with high-inductance windings. A 5 V, 250 mA auxiliary output powers encoders or sensors without a separate supply, and twelve opto-isolated digital inputs plus four sourcing outputs provide step-direction, limit, and fault interfacing without external logic converters.
Position processing executes at 3 kHz, and commanded duty cycles are modulated by a PWM carrier at 30 kHz, minimizing audible noise. The feedback port accepts incremental encoders up to 8 Mcount/sec and can decode incoming step pulses to 2 MHz, matching high-speed indexers. These rates permit smooth micro-stepping or servo positioning without quantization lag. Peak torque events are timed automatically to the 1-second window, while the remaining motion segments run inside the continuous envelope. The drive’s compact footprint simplifies placement near motors so that cable runs remain short and electromagnetic emissions are contained.
