The TEL-090-07 is a DC-powered motion drive produced by Copley Controls and supplied within the Stepnet Compact Drives series. It is intended to run two-phase stepper motors or brushless servomotors directly from a machine’s 90 V bus, allowing axis builders to integrate velocity, position, and torque functions without a full-size cabinet amplifier. In automated pick-and-place stations, laboratory instrumentation, or small gantries, the unit delivers closed-loop accuracy while occupying less space than traditional panel drives.
The command interface accepts an analog span of ±10 Vdc that is digitized at 12-bit resolution for speed or torque control. A continuous phase output of 5 Adc per phase supports steady motion, and a current loop that refreshes at 16 kHz keeps torque ripple low even on low-inductance loads. The power stage is rated for 90 Vdc, so it pairs with common distributed DC supplies in multi-axis machines. Internally, the loop bandwidth for velocity and position calculations is 4 kHz, and the drive can sustain 7 Adc for one second when peak torque is required. Inductive loads down to 200 µH are permissible, enabling direct connection to compact motor windings without external chokes.
A peak output of 7 Adc is limited by a heat plate sensor that trips at 70 °C to protect the semiconductor junctions. The auxiliary encoder supply delivers +5 Vdc at 500 mA, and feedback channels accept quadrature or clock-direction signals at frequencies up to 5 MHz. When step-direction control is selected, the input can process streams at up to 2 MHz without signal loss. The drive has dimensions of 129 × 86.6 × 50.4 mm, making it suitable for compact installation spaces. The assembly weighs 0.34 kg, allowing it to mount directly on moving carriages where distributed drives reduce cable runs.
