Kollmorgen SERVOSTAR SP servo drives are intelligent, fully regenerative four-quadrant PWM amplifiers designed for permanent-magnet brushless motors and other three-phase servo loads in high-power motion systems.
The series uses a modular architecture that allows multiple axis drive modules to share a common power supply, with drive current classes ranging from 3 to 55 A RMS per phase and matching power-supply modules available in several capacity levels. Available operating modes include direct transistor control, two-phase analog current command operation, and six-step commutation, giving the platform flexibility for different control schemes. Series features include differential analog inputs, high-frequency motor current ripple for improved servo performance and reduced audible noise, soft-start capability in the power supply, regenerative shunt handling, and front-panel LED status indication. The platform also incorporates extensive protective functions, including bus overvoltage, bus undervoltage, peak overcurrent, short-circuit, overtemperature, and PWM-frequency limiting protection for industrial cabinet-mounted servo applications.
