Product Description:
The SR55200-2G617C is a 24.45 kW servo drive produced by Kollmorgen for motor control. It is intended for a continuous rated current of 55 Arms as well as 110 Arms of peak value and uses 230 V AC in the form of single or three phases. This servo drive is not affected by vibrations of 0.5 g or below and can be installed on sites up to 1000 m altitude above sea level.
The SR55200-2G617C servo drive features pulse-width modulation (PWM) for switching, in the frequency range between 8 and 16 kHz. Its form factor holds a ratio of 1.01 between the RMS and average values of current. The SR55200 servo drive utilizes an integrated fan for cooling to ensure the system remains efficient and thermally managed. A panel or chassis supports the drive which needs a 2.5-inch clearance at the top and bottom for air to flow properly. The range of analog inputs is from ±10 V with a 14-bit resolution for accurate commands and sends ±10 V with 12 bits of information for feedback of the signal. The SR55200 servo drive has a suitable operating range of 32°F to 113°F and it can be stored between -4°F to 158°F. Its interface works through a RS-232 port.
The SR55200-2G617C servo drive has a built-in fault relay that is designed to work at 1 A at 24 VDC that offer protection from events such as overvoltage, undervoltage, overtemperature, short-circuit and error in feedback. This unit operates well with moist conditions up to 90% RH without any corrosive gases or dust in the air. The SR55200 servo drive runs with a DC bus voltage of 325 VDC with output capability of 20 kVA at 113°F.
Frequently Asked Questions about SR55200-2G617C:
Q: Why does the SR55200-2G617C use a 14-bit analog input resolution?
A: The 14-bit resolution allows for highly granular analog command signals, ensuring precise motion control. This is critical in applications requiring tight position or speed regulation.
Q: How does the PWM switching frequency range improve performance?
A: With 8–16 kHz PWM switching, the SR55200-2G617C achieves smooth motor control and reduced audible noise. It also enhances thermal efficiency by minimizing current ripple.
Q: What’s the benefit of having a 1.01 RMS-to-average current ratio?
A: A near-unity RMS-to-average ratio indicates consistent power delivery. It helps maintain predictable thermal behavior in high-demand servo applications.
Q: How does forced-air cooling impact longevity in SR55200-2G617C?
A: The integrated fan ensures heat is effectively dissipated from the drive. This protects internal components and extends operational life under full load.
Q: Why is RS-232 interface used instead of modern protocols?
A: RS-232 provides reliable point-to-point communication, making it suitable for stable, low-interference environments. It is ideal for dedicated connections in legacy or industrial systems.
