Product Description:

The CP32026 is a servo amplifier produced by Kollmorgen within the SP Servostar Servo Drives series. The unit conditions a three-phase mains supply and converts it into high-bandwidth current suitable for brushless servomotors. This conversion allows closed-loop positioning, velocity, and torque control in automated machinery and material-handling cells.

On the power side, the drive accepts a three-phase 230 VAC supply and draws 24 A at full load, resulting in 9.2 kVA of apparent power at the mains terminals. Internally, it regulates motor current with a continuous capability of 20 A RMS per phase and can surge to 40 A RMS per phase for acceleration or disturbance rejection. That peak is limited to 2 seconds, after which thermal modeling reduces the current to protect the IGBTs. The current measurement circuit is calibrated so that a 10 V analog reference equals 50 A RMS, simplifying oscilloscope scaling during signal checks. Real-time phase feedback is transferred over Serial Digital U/V links, while velocity or torque commands arrive as Direct Digital PWM streams. All motor power, resolver, and brake conductors terminate on the Mini-D-36 C2 connector, simplifying cabinet wiring.

Separate control electronics operate from 24 VDC logic power and consume only 0.5 A, allowing the feedback processor to remain active during emergency stops. Bus watchdogs trigger at 430 VDC for overvoltage and at 90 VDC for undervoltage, preventing the link capacitors from exceeding their limits or falling below drive thresholds. An onboard sensor latches an overtemperature fault at 80 °C to protect the motor magnets and semiconductor components. The mains input is further protected by a 50 A fast-acting fuse that interrupts fault currents before circuit traces overheat. Every trip condition is time-stamped and transmitted through the serial monitor port. This diagnostic information allows wiring or cooling problems to be identified without removing the unit from the panel.
